NOTICE OF DISTRICT MEETING

Notice is hereby given that a Community Listening Session about a Spring 2025 Referendum will be held on December 18, 2024 at 6:00 p.m. in the Monroe High School Library Media Center. This meeting is open to the School District of Monroe community. While a Board of Education quorum may be present, no action will be taken. (December 14, 2024) WNAXLP

REGULAR BOARD OF EDUCATION MEETING AGENDA (Monday, November 25, 2024)

1. Call to Order - At 7:00 p.m. the meeting was called to order by Rich Deprez. 2. Roll Call - Board of Education members present: Nikki Austin, Jim Curran, Rich Deprez, Teresa Keehn, Phil Vosberg, Terri Montgomery (by phone) Board of Education members absent: Eric Eckdhal. Administration present: Rodney Figueroa, Ron Olson, Todd Paradis, Joe Monroe, Jeriamy Jackson, Matt Brown, Lindsay Dahmen, Sara Judd, Jenna Trame, Amy Timmerman. Administration absent: Josh Wilson. 3. Approve Agenda - A motion was made by Jim Curran and seconded by Mike Froseth to approve the agenda for November 25, 2024. Approved by voice vote. 4. Consent Items - Information: A. Approve Minutes - B. Approve MHS Safety Drill Evaluation C. Approve Reestablishing Cooperative Team Membership with Beloit Fury Girls Hockey Co-Op D. Approval of Approval/Acceptance of Community. A motion to move the Hockey Co-Op out of Consent Agenda and into New Business first item, by Teresa Keehn and Second by Phil Vosberg. Approved by voice vote. A motion was made by Phil Vosberg and seconded by Terri Montgomery to approve the Consent Items as presented. Approved by voice vote. 5. Public Comment: Nikki Andrews - 8th grade and a girl's hockey player – spoke about the positive impact joining the Girl’s Fury Co-Op will have on girl’s hockey players in Monroe. A motion was made by Phil Vosberg and seconded by Mike Froseth to approve re-establishing a Cooperative Team Membership with Beloit Fury Girls Hockey Co-Op 6. Old Business - 7. New Business - A. MHS Building Project Update - Information since the last meeting, project budget, and dashboard summary from Ryan and Tony. The 5 Month Milestone drone footage was shared during the meeting. The rain the last few weeks has slowed the pace of work on site. Initial blasting in the football/soccer/track area was done last week. PRA is almost complete with the design for the 5,000 sq ft addition to the CTE area. Club Earth participated in the CORE project meeting Wednesday to share information and receive questions about the proposed project to add solar in the future. The work now will provide the infrastructure for a completed system. B. Referendum Survey Information - November 5th, voters in the School District of Monroe rejected an operational referendum. This funding would have been used to maintain class sizes, current course offerings, and competitive salaries to help attract and retain high-quality staff. There are tough decisions ahead, and solving our challenges will take a collective effort. We are not alone. Most school districts in Wisconsin have pursued a referendum to help pay for daily expenses. This survey represents our budget situation. Your input will help guide the school board's planning as we determine the best approach to address this critical financial issue. School Perceptions, an independent education research firm, will administer this survey. Responses will be confidential. As directed by the BOE, this survey was created. It will be going out via US postal service, email, and available for pick up at the District office the Week of December 2 and will be due by December 23. C. Abraham Lincoln National Blue Ribbon School Activities Update - Sarah shared information regarding upcoming events related to celebrating Abe's National Blue Ribbon School recognition. December 16 breakfast and flag raising at 8:30 a.m. depending on weather. D. Summary of the School Report Card Curriculum & Instruction Committee Meeting - Todd and the principals will share building specific information during the C&I Committee meeting. E. Monroe High School Legacy Meeting Discussion - Wednesday, December 11 from 5-6 in the PAC. PRA and Amplify, our selected Branding partners, are interested in the input brought forward by community members. Community invited to discuss thoughts and ideas regarding legacy elements in the spaces of the new high school. 8. Informational Items - A. Liaison Reports - Lian Troung gave a synopsis for recent State Theater One Act Play awards, club outings, hockey, girl's basketball, boy's basketball, Holiday Extravaganza tickets - 12/14 and 12/16. B. Boardsmanship/Administration - Rich reviewed the process for the three opening seats for election - incumbents Dylan McGuire, Eric Eckdhal, and Rich Deprez. C. Board of Education Correspondence. D. Committee Reports 9. Five Minutes for the Press 10. Closed Session - A. Wisconsin Statute 19.85(1)(c)Considering employment, promotion, compensation, or performance evaluation data of any public employee over which the governmental body has jurisdiction or exercises responsibility.
