NOTICE OF PENDING APPLICATION FOR PROPOSED FORDS, GRADING & STREAMBANK STABILIZATION

Sharden Ranch LLC c/o Dennis Hetland, N4555 Skinner Hollow Rd, Monroe, WI 53566 has applied to the Department of Natural Resources for a permit to construct fords, to grade more than 10,000 square feet and install riprap on the banks of the unnamed tributary (WBIC 896300) to Skinner Creek. The project located in the SE 1/4 of the SE 1/4 of Section 01, Township 02 North, Range 06 East, Town of Jordan, Green County, Specifically, the project consists of streambank stabilization and the creation of two (2) fords for machinery and cattle crossing. The streambank stabilization will consist of 1,280 linear feet of shaping and grading, along with 485 linear feet of hard armoring via d50 6" rock riprap; average height of the rock will be 3.5' on the banks. The majority of the sloping will be at a 3:1, however several bends will be at a 2:1 due to obstacles to work around. The two ford crossings will be 57' and 82' in length, consisting of 8:1 side slopes and comprised of a 12" base layer of graded rock followed by 2" of crushed stone and finally 2" of screenings. Approximately 380' of wooded area is proposed to be removed to allow grasses to be established; some trees will remain. Erosion control best management practices will be utilized throughout the course of the project and spoil material will be thin spread in an upland location outside of the flow paths. The Department will review the proposal provided by the applicant and any information from public comments and a public informational hearing, if requested. The Department will determine whether the proposal complies with ss. 1.11 and 30.12(3m), Stats., and ch. NR 150, Wis. Adm. Code, and ensure that the required mitigation meets the standards in s. 281.36(3r), Stats. if the project impacts wetlands. The Department has made a tentative determination that it will issue the permit or contract for the proposed activity.
