Date: October 2, 2023 Time: 6:30 PM Place: City Hall Council Chambers - 1110 18th Ave CALL TO ORDER FOR THIS MEETING The Common Council meeting was called to order by Mayor Douglas on Monday, October 2, 2023, at 6:30 PM. A. PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE ROLL CALL Present at roll call were Alders Richard Thoman, Tom Miller, Chris Schindler, Heidi Threuthardt, Mary Jane Grenzow, Lynne Kleven, Corinne Wartenweiler, and Kyle Knoll. On a roll call vote, Motion Passed. J. BUSINESS PRESENTED BY ALDERPERSONS Alder Knoll expressed a desire to recognize fire fighter members that retire. Since November 2016, he calculates 28 members that either retired or resigned. He would like to consider firefighter employees as normal full-time employee and recognize their retirement at Common Council and requests this to be put on a future agenda. Alder Treuthardt also expressed gratitude to Todd Hasse that recently retired from the Monroe Fire Department and is present at the meeting tonight. There is mention to consider evaluating all city employee retirement and recognition policies. K. BUSINESS PRESENTED BY DEPARTMENT HEADS Administrator Rindy summarized the updated schedule regarding the Board of Review meeting and process. There were 592 resident calls that have been addressed to date, along with 65 remaining in consideration. She expresses gratitude for patience during this difficult process that has placed a significant demand on the assessors as a whole. L. BUSINESS PRESENTED BY THE PRESS The Monroe Times inquired on the status of the Fire Chief recruitment. Administrator Rindy advised the Police and Fire Commission has a meeting on Thursday, October 5, 2023 to further review the candidate applications and consider background checks and references with a possible consideration of interviews.
