Brief Facility Description and Summary of Proposed Changes: The Klondike Cheese plant (located on Hwy 81 about 6 miles northwest of Monroe) produces Feta, Brick, Havarti, Muenster and Gouda cheeses and Greek yogurt using approximately 0.71 Mlbs/day of raw milk, 0.0025 Mlbs/day milk protein concentrate and 0.024 Mlbs/day.non-fat dried milk in 2022. Cheese making typically occurs 5-6 days per week with limited process related activity on weekends. City of Monroe Public Hearing on Amendment to Comprehensive Plan

Notice is hereby given that the City of Monroe Plan Commission will hold a public hearing on Wednesday November 8, 2023, at 5:00 p.m. and the City of Monroe City Council will hold a public hearing on Monday, November 20, 2023, at 6:30 PM. The public hearing will be held to gather public input on a proposed amendment to the “City of Monroe Comprehensive Plan.” The Comprehensive Plan sets the policy for the growth, development, and preservation of the community. The proposed amendment would affect the Future Land Use Map (Figure 15) of the Plan document. On the Future Land Use Map, the proposed amendment involves changing the Future Land Use designation for five parcels (parcel numbers 2325150281000, 2325150282000, 2325150290000, 2325150270000, 2325150260000) from “Industrial” to “Housing and Economic Development.” The second proposed amendment would involve changing the Future Land Use designation for three parcels (parcel numbers 2302005311000, 2302005281000, 2301000440000 and a portion of 2325153541100) from “Single Family” and “Two Family” to “Industrial.” The Comprehensive Plan and the proposed amendment are available for review online at https://www.cityofmonroe.org/.
