CITY OF MONROE COMMON COUNCIL MINUTES

Date: August 6, 2018 Time: 6:30 PM Place: City Hall Annex - 1821 12th Street CALL TO ORDER FOR THIS MEETING The Common Council was called to order on August 8, 2018. Present at roll call were Alders Michael Boyce, Brooke Bauman, Chris Beer, Jeff Newcomer, Richard Thoman, Ron Marsh, Rob Schilt, Donna Douglas, and Mickey Beam. A. CORRECTION OF MINUTES None. B. PRESENTATIONS OF PETITIONS AND COMMUNICATION None. C. BUSINESS BY MAYOR Mayor Armstrong informed the Council that he would like the November 6, 2018 election, and possibly other future elections, to be held at Turner Hall. D. APPEARANCES BY THE PUBLIC None. E. CONSENT AGENDA Motion made by Chris Beer and seconded by Donna Douglas to approve consent agenda. On a roll call vote, Motion Passed. 1. On a roll call vote, Motion Passed. H. PUBLIC SAFETY COMMITTEE 1. Resolution creating no parking zone on West 10 1/2 Street Motion made by Rob Schilt and seconded by Donna Douglas to approve resolution creating a no parking zone on West 10 1/2 Street. On a roll call vote, Motion Passed. 2. Act on allowing the Behring Senior Center to proceed with a feasibility study using donated funds Senior Center Director Tammy Derrickson explained that she is looking for the blessing of the Council to proceed with a feasibility study that will tell whether or not the current site is feasible to meet the future needs of the Senior Center. Questions and discussion took place. The Council came to a general consensus to proceed with study. J. COUNCIL OF THE WHOLE 1.Banking Resolution Motion made by Michael Boyce and seconded by Brooke Bauman to approve the banking resolution. On a roll call vote, Motion Passed. K. BUSINESS PRESENTED BY ALDERPERSONS Alder Douglas asked if the Pledge of Allegiance can be done prior to Council meetings. L. BUSINESS PRESENTED BY DEPARTMENT HEADS None. M.
