GREEN COUNTY LEPC COMMUNITY RIGHT-TO-KNOW ABOUT HAZARDOUS MATERIALS

Fed Law P.L. 99-499 was enacted in October 1986 by the U.S. Congress to protect and inform all citizens of the existence of hazardous chemicals that may be manufactured, stored, distributed or used in a community. P.L. 99-499 is the Emergency Planning and Community Right-to-Know Act of 1986. Title III of the "Superfund Amendments and Reauthorization Act of 1986" (SARA). Information about these hazardous chemicals and locations within Green County are available at the Green County Emergency Management Office, 2827 6th Street, Monroe, WI. Inquiries must be made in writing and be specific as to the information requested in the files. Telephone inquiries will not be accepted. Information requested will be available within 10 business days after receipt of the request. Copies of documents will be made at the expense of the requestor and at rates established by Green County. Please understand that information available is limited to compliance with P.L. 99-499 and does not include all chemicals that may pose a threat to humans, animals or the environment. The steel is stamped into laminations which are stress relieved by an annealing process. The furnaces are cooled by non-contact cooling towers. Non-contact cooling water used to cool roller bearings for the annealing furnace is routed through a cooling tower and recycled. A variety of chemical additives are used to control biofouling and corrosion. Approximately 875 gallons of cooling water blowdown is discharged per day through outfall 001. Orchid International’s Outfall 001 now discharges directly into a storm water retention pond. All comments or suggestions received no later than 30 days after the publication date of this public notice will be considered along with other information on file in making a final decision regarding the permit. Anyone providing comments in response to this public notice will receive a notification of the Department’s final decision when the permit is issued. The Department may schedule a public informational hearing if requested by any person and shall schedule an informational hearing if a petition requesting a hearing is received from 5 or more persons or if response to this notice indicates significant public interest pursuant to s. 283.49, Stats. Information on requesting a hearing is at the above web link. Limitations and conditions which the Department believes adequately protect the receiving water are included in the proposed permit. Notice of Pending Application for Proposed Grading, Habitat and Riprap

Norman Williams, 201 11th Avenue, Monroe, WI 53566 has applied to the Department of Natural Resources for a permit to grade more than 10,000 square feet and plae streambank stabilization and habitat on the banks of Spring Creek. The project is located in the NE1/4 of the SW1/4 of Section 20, Township 01 North, Range 09 East, Town of Spring Grove, Green County. The project consists of streambank stabilization by using stream barbs and riprap. The stream barbs will have 4:1 slopes, with the remaining bank above the stream barbs having a 3:1 slope, the riprap will have a 3:1 slope and the bank above the riprap will have a 3:1 slope. All exposed soil and disturbed areas will be seeded to the mix depicted in the attached construction plan. The Department will review the proposal provided by the applicant and any information from public comments and a public informational hearing, if requested. The Department will determine whether the proposal complies with ss. 1.11 and 30.19(4), Stats., and ch. NR 150, Wis. Adm. Code, and ensure that the required mitigation meets the standards in s. 281.36(3r), Stats. if the project impacts wetlands. The Department has made a tentative determination that it will issue the permit or contract for the proposed activity.
