Discussion and Potential Override on Mayoral Veto of Fluoride Ordinance Alderpersons were given the opportunity to speak both for and against fluoride in the water concerning the Mayor's veto to retain fluoride in the water supply. A motion was made by Kranig, seconded by Knoll, to override the Mayor's veto. Consideration of CSKW's Request to Appeal Building Inspector Order Allowed by City of Monroe Code 4-1-23 Attorney Bartholf explained the building code, stating that the Building Inspector is responsible for issuing permits and enforcing the code. A two-thirds vote is required to repeal the fees. The Building Inspector is required to charge double fees for certain violations. CSKW submitted an appeal letter requesting a reversal of these fees. Both the property owners and the Building Inspector were given the opportunity to speak. Council members also had the chance to ask questions to all parties involved. A motion was made by Thoman, seconded by Kleven, to table until the next Common Council meeting. The motion passed 8-1, by the following vote: AYES: Richard Thoman, Andrew Kranig, Corinne Wartenweiler, Heidi Treuthardt, Kyle Knoll, Lynne Kleven, Mary Jane Grenzow, Tom Miller NOES: Matt Sheaffer ABSENT:None ABSTAINED:None N. BUSINESS PRESENTED BY ALDERPERSONS Alder Scheaffer mentioned that the County Clerk sent a memo to the Green County Board regarding perceived federal financing concerns. He requested that the city look into potential impacts and speak with department heads to determine how funds are allocated. Administrator Rindy has started reviewing the report. Alder Thoman commented on the controversy surrounding the fluoride discussion and how the community has treated members of the council with opposing views. He encouraged those involved to approach the situation with more respect and to do better in the future. Mayor Douglas commented that during discussions, the entire council should consider the community as a whole and take into account the broader perspective. O. BUSINESS PRESENTED BY DEPARTMENT HEADS Administrator Rindy spoke about the upcoming April 1st election and the candidates running for Alderperson. She also provided an overview of the timeline for the April meetings. Clerk Wahl informed the council that there are no scheduled meetings during the week of March 31st. P.
