MONROE — For the month of October, Woodford State Bank teamed up with the Komen Foundation for the fight against breast cancer.

The Susan G. Komen Foundation raises money to help local women and men impacted by breast cancer. The funds raised will be used for health services and educational programs, and will support research to find the cures for breast cancer. Through this program, 75% of the money raised remains in local communities for local breast cancer prevention initiatives.

Funds were raised by donations with donation jars throughout the community, hosting a pie sale, silent auction, ribbon sales, a sip-and-shop event and a chili cook-off.

Other banks in the local area participated. Greenwoods State Bank and Wisconsin Bank & Trust participated in ribbon sales. The Bank of New Glarus gave a donation of $250. The goal was exceeded and the total amount raised was $6,264.
