Veteran's procession is Saturday

DARLINGTON - Sons of the American Legion Squadron 214 of the Bates, O'Brien, Howe, Wiegel, Roelli Post will be hosting a "Veteran's Procession" on Saturday in recognition of Memorial Day weekend. The procession is open to all motorcyclists, as well as cars and trucks, regardless of whether they are veterans. It will serve to honor all men and women who have served in the U.S. Armed Forces.

The procession will begin in Darlington at 11:30 a.m. and will tour Lafayette, Grant and Green Counties. During the tour, riders will be stopping at Legion Halls in Platteville, Shullsburg, Monroe and Ridgeway to support their respective posts. Refreshments and 50/50 raffles will be available during the stops.

Registration for the ride will begin at the Darlington American Legion Post at 10 a.m.

The cost is $8 per person or $15 for a couple. Pre-registration is not required. The ride is expected to last until about 5:30 p.m. and will end back at the Darlington American Legion Post where riders will be welcome to stay and enjoy a beverage.

All proceeds from these events will be used by SAL in support of local, state and national veteran programs.

SAL is comprised of sons and grandsons of veterans who are eligible for American Legion membership. New members are welcome.
