NEW GLARUS - Dr. Lester Nider, Monroe, will present his entertaining and informative one-man show, the "Turkey Vulture...a very special bird," at 7 p.m. Saturday, June 6, hosted by the Friends of New Glarus Woods.

Dr. Nider, who will be dressed for the part "with feathers on," will enchant and captivate the audience with a wide variety of topics about this unusual bird, including preferred habitat, diet and the unique ways that turkey vultures protect themselves. Turkey vultures are fascinating due to their immense 6' wing span, ability to soar for hours without flapping their wings, and have the best sense of smell of all birds.

The program will be presented at the Picnic Shelter on County NN at the New Glarus Woods State Park. This is the second in a series of Naturalist programs that will be presented Saturday nights at the New Glarus Woods State Park during 2009. The schedule of events is available online at www.newglaruswoods.org or a schedule can be picked up at the New Glarus or Monticello libraries.

This event is free. Parking is available in the State Park with either a daily or annual
