SW blood drive a success

SOUTH WAYNE — The Community Blood Drive held Aug. 1 in South Wayne at Marty’s Village Inn was successful in helping with the shortage of blood. 

Fifty potential donors presented, with six people being deferred and five giving doubles to make a total of 47 productive units within a quota of 42.

Giving doubles were Alicia Sigafus, Cathy Cernek, Jim Meier, Barbera Alexander and Katy Dickson. There were no first timers. 

Other donors were John Hay, Jessica Spinhirne, Janice Brewer, Richard Fernstaedt, Gerald Miller, Jean Kent, Elaine Renken, David Renken, Kathryn Foley, Sue Gerloff, Connie Meier, Don Seffrood, Jim Magee, Jim Currran, Gary Kleppe, John Hagen, Kerry Schiltz, Robert Hulll, Patti Anderson, Jeff Anderson, Garnett Punintun, Mary McKnight, Carol Ruegsegger, Emily Zarling, Larry Burkhalter, Cynthia Jackson, Helen LaDow, Betty Lehman, Jason Thomas, Herb Tornow, John Warner, Monica Koch, Janet Gobeli, Kim Hull, Chuck Wick, Lonnie Stauffer, Ron Bauman, Denise Leu, Karen Signer, Donna Wyss, Steve Ruegsegger, Steve Bechtolt and Gary Miller.

Helping with the drive were Carole Broge, Taylor Broge, Juanita Kant and Connie Meier. 

Donating to the Canteen were Valley View, cheese; South Wayne Mart, milk; Lenita Stark, sandwiches; Carole Broge, sandwiches; Joyce Paulston, sandwiches; and Connie Meier, cookies, crackers, sausage and coffee.
