NEW GLARUS - The Friends of the New Glarus Woods State Park will present its annual Spirits of the Night family event from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Saturday.
The informative evening event will feature a zany cast of characters who live in the New Glarus Woods State Park. Listen to dialog from a hungry raccoon, a wishful squirrel, a stinky snake and a boastful bat, among others. "Creatures of the night" will appear one by one, explaining any misunderstandings about their scariness and expressing their importance to the environment. For children who tend to be leery of things that go bump in the night, Spirits of the Night is a chance to have fun and see a friendlier side of nighttime.
The show, held rain or shine, will begin at 7 p.m. Those who attend should bring a camp chair and flashlight. Hot dogs and drinks will be available.
Spirits of the Night is an annual fundraising event for the Friends group, a nonprofit volunteer organization. Admission to the event is free, but entrance to the park requires a Wisconsin state park sticker. Donations are welcome. Proceeds will go to the Friends group to help with programs and projects that enhance the New Glarus Woods State Park.
