MONROE - Antje Petty from the Max Kade Institute for German-American Studies will be the speaker at the Green County Genealogical Society meeting held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 1 in the second-floor meeting room of the Monroe Public Library.
The presentation will offer suggestions on how to use German-American materials in genealogy, including those available at the Max Kade Institute. The presentation will focus on resources available in America - especially those from German-speaking communities - that can provide information crucial to successful research on the other side of the Atlantic.
Petty is assistant director at the Max Kade Institute for German-American Studies at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. The MKI is dedicated to researching the story of German-speaking immigrants, as well as preserving American print culture and personal documents in the German language.
