South Wayne blood drive nears quota

SOUTH WAYNE - The Red Cross Blood Drive at South Wayne's Marty's Village Inn yielded 38 pints with the quota being 49 on March 21.

Thirty-three potential donors presented with no deferrals. One unit was incomplete, and four people gave doubles. There were no first-timers. David Renkin made his 6-gallon mark.

Other donors were Joan Kent, Elaine Renkin, Jim Meier, Mary Zimmerman, Carolyn Signer, Connie Meier, Grant Dale, Cheryl Dale, Robert Hull, John Hagen, Al Melland, Muranda Lomas, Larry Burtkhalter, Jim Magee, Ron Bauman, Carol Ruegsegger, Helen Ladow, Jillene Meier, John Ganshirt, Tracy Williams, Steve Ruegsegger, Janice Payne, Kayla Meier, Monica Koch, Donna Ernst, Thomas Ernst, Herb Tornow, Lonnie Stuffer, John Warner, Janet Gobeli, Steve Bechtolt and Karen Signer. 

Donating to the canteen were Valley View Cheese Co-op, cheese; South Wayne Mart, milk; Black Hawk Girls basketball, cookies and bars; Joyce Paulson, sandwiches; Carole Broge, sandwiches and cookies; and Coordinator Connie Meier, sausage, coffee, sandwiches and crackers. 

Volunteers for the day were Susie Junk, Joyce Paulson, Broge and Meier.
