South Wayne blood drive exceeds goal

SOUTH WAYNE - The American Red Cross blood drive held at Marty's Village Inn on Aug. 6 exceeded its goal by 12 pints. There were 34 potential donors and 32 units collected.

Five first-time donors were Lavonne Liphart, Jeff Monson, Marissa Monson, Janelle Smith and Travis Smith.

Danton Studer and Herb Tornow gave double red blood cells. There were no gallon marks for the day.

Other donors were: Nathan Anderson, Steve Bechtolt, Russel Berg, Gary Burns, Cheryl Dale, Grant Dale, Rosann DeVoe, Richard (Hook) Fernsteadt, Carl Gille, Eleanor Gille, Jacob Harder, Robert Hull, Keith Jackson, Cassie Jorgenson, Nikki Komperood, James Magee, Connie Meier, Jim Meier, Gene Montgomery, David Renken, Elaine Renken, Molly Salzwedel, Donald Seffrood, Carolyn Signer, Tom Wellnetz, Donna Wyss and Mary Zimmerman.

Donations to the canteen were Valley View, cheese; South Wayne Mart, milk; St. John's Catholic church, cookies; Our Saviors Lutheran church, sandwiches, Marty's Village Inn, coffee; Joyce Paulson, sandwiches; and Connie Meier, sausage and crackers.

Workers for the day were: Susie Junk, Lori Sawdey, Joyce Paulson and Connie Meier.
