ORFORDVILLE — The Sassy Farm Chicks Quilt Company is holding their Annual Airing of The Quilts Outdoor Quilt Exhibition on Saturday, September 11. The show will begin at 10 a.m. Rain date is Sunday, Sept. 12. 

Quilts are being sought from area quilters for the exhibition. Quilts can be the work of the quilter, a gift, a family piece, be new or vintage, or be a mission quilt made for donation. Quilts can be of any size, wallhangings, table pieces, or any quilted item. Quilts shown in previous years are welcome. Quilts are being accepted at the quilt shop in downtown Orfordville Friday, Sept. 3 through Thursday, Sept. 9 from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m., any time prior when the shop is open, or by appointment. 

The Airing of The Quilts is an outdoor quilt exhibition in downtown Orfordville showcasing local quilters. Mystery Quilts made in the spring of 2021 will be featured and there will be a quilt worth and history lecture at 11 a.m. on the patio next to the quilt shop on Beloit Street. Presentations from the Orfordville Community Quilts of Gratitude sewers and a program and display by the Lanark Chapter of the Illinois Land of Lincoln Quilts of Valor will be held at 1 p.m. in the Purdy Park Pavilion on Church Street. There will be desserts available at the park as a fundraiser for Parkview FFA Alumni, and delicious lunch available at any of Orfordville’s seven restaurants. A Quilt themed Storywalk for children will also be held in Purdy Park sponsored by The Orfordville Public Library and The Rock County Parks System.
