Pilot to discuss flight to Alaska Thursday at MAC

MONROE - The Federal Aviation Administration in collaboration with the Wisconsin Department of Transportation-Aeronautics Division will be conducting a Pilot Safety program from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 5, at the Monroe Arts Center, 1315 11th St., Monroe.

The program is part of the Federal Aviation Administration's nation-wide FAA Safety Team program. The FAA Safety Team is a national effort to convey safety principles and practices through training, outreach and education, while establishing partnerships and encouraging the continual growth of a positive safety culture within the aviation community.

William Law, program manager, from the FAA's Great Lakes Regional Office in Des Plaines, Ill., will discuss the new "Wings" Pilot Proficiency program and have a presentation on Air Traffic Control Communications.

Jeffery Taylor, of the WI DOT-Aeronautics Division will introduce the WI DOT's products to assist pilots in flying safely within the state.

Ray Fey, a longtime Madison area pilot will do a presentation entitled "Can you really get there from here?" He will share his experiences on how to safely fly from Wisconsin to Alaska in a single engine aircraft.

The FAA will provide free safety brochures and Flying Safety DVDs for those attending. There is no charge or registration for the program.
