DODGEVILLE - The "Expanding Your Pasture Resources Through Leasing Relationships" workshop will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 22 at the Iowa County Health and Human Services building, 303 W. Chapel St.

The workshop will provide information about managed grazing systems, expectations of grassland owners, economics of leasing pasture, establishment of leasing agreements and grazing plan options. Local producers and landowners will share their experiences with pasture leasing partnerships for managed grazing.

Lunch will be provided from Bob's B-B-Q. Space is limited, registration is required. To register, contact Erin Holmes at 608-935-2791 ext. 141 or erin.holmes@wi.usda.gov by Friday, Feb. 14.

The first workshop in this series was held in December and it explored managed grazing as an option for landowners interested in retaining both the income and conservation benefits of CRP. The final workshop in March will be a "meet and greet' session where landowners and livestock producers can evaluate partnership options.

The Expanding Your Pasture Resources workshop is hosted by Southwest Badger Resource Conservation and Development Council, Inc., in partnership with Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources; Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade, and Consumer Protection; County Land Conservation Departments; USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service; The Nature Conservancy; Pheasants Forever; and Trout Unlimited. Funding is provided by the Wallace Center at Winrock International through the Expanding Grass-Based Animal Agriculture in the Midwest: The Pasture Project.
