Parks and Rec programs have openings this fall

MONROE - Monroe Parks and Recreation has openings in its fall programs. Those interested can stop by the Parks and Recreation office to sign up for the programs, or sign up online at www.cityofmonroe.org.

The fall dance class, which started this week, will be Mondays through Oct. 24. Until further notice, classes will be at the Behring Senior Center due to renovations at City Hall. Instructor Kathryn Zastrow leads Ballet I (3-4 years) from 5:15 to 5:45 p.m., Ballet II (4-5 years) from 5:50 to 6:20 p.m., Ballet III (5-7 years) from 6:25 to 6:55 p.m., Ballet IV (7 and up with instructor approval) from 7 to 7:35 p.m. and Pop Class (7 and up) from 7:40 to 8:10 p.m. The cost is $40 for residents and $50 for non-residents.

Fall volleyball for third through sixth grade will be on early release Mondays starting next week. Practices will be at Monroe High School from 2:30 to 4 p.m. Sept. 19 and 26 and Oct. 3. Games will be from 5:30 to 6:15 p.m. for third- and fourth-graders and from 6:15 to 7 p.m. for fifth- and sixth-graders Oct. 10 and 17 at Northside Elementary School. The cost is $30 for residents and $40 for non-residents.

Boot Camp Blast begins a new session Oct. 4 and runs through Dec. 31. Classes meet from 5:15 to 6 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays at the Behring Senior Center. The exercise class is for anyone 18 years and older, with Kristine Leck as instructor. The cost is $45 for residents and $55 for non-residents.
