MONROE - Honky-tonk, boogie-woogie and gospel will be among the genres played at Midday Masterworks, a quarterly organ mini-recital series, scheduled for Wednesday, July 22.
The entertaining half-hour program titled "All That Jazz" will be presented at 12:15 p.m. at the United Methodist Church of Monroe and again at 5:30 p.m. at St. Victor Catholic Church in Monroe.
"Mozart Changes," a jazz styling written in 1995 specifically for organ and based on Mozart's last piano sonata in D Major, will be among the selections performed. Also included will be familiar spirituals, Cole Porter's "Anything Goes," and a gospel piano arrangement of "The Old Rugged Cross."
Deborah Krauss Smith, organist-director of music at St. John's United Church of Christ in Monroe, is the organist for Midday Masterworks.
