NEW GLARUS - April is National Poetry Month, and the New Glarus Public Library is challenging patrons to participate in a "Poetry Blackout" event throughout the month.
To participate, pick up a book page from the library (or scan or tear out a page from your own book or magazine at home) and create a new poem by blacking out certain words on the page. Artwork also can be added. Examples can be found online by searching "poetry blackouts."
For more information, visit the library website at www.newglaruspubliclibrary.org/poetry-blackout-challenge.
Return the poetry creation to the library by the end of April for inclusion in the library's social media posts. Photos of the altered poems may be dropped off in person or mailed to New Glarus Public Library, 319 2nd St., P.O. Box 35, New Glarus, WI 53574-0035 or emailed to staff@ngpl.org.
