Monticello Historical Society to host talk on Badger Honor Flight

MONTICELLO - The Monticello Historical Society will meet at 7 p.m. March 22 in the lounge at Zwingli United Church of Christ, 416 E. Lake Ave., Monticello.

A slide show will be presented at about 7:20 p.m. after the general meeting. World War II veteran Robert Getman and his flight escort Paul Rieder will talk about Badger Honor Flight, Getman's WWII service as a Marine radio operator aboard a C-47 in the South Pacific and their one-day trip to Washington, D.C. in September 2015. A question and answer time will follow the presentation.

Attendance is free and open to the public. Veterans who have been on Badger Honor Flight are encouraged to attend and add their comments and experiences after the presentation.
