MONROE - The second program of the 2008 Midday Masterworks organ mini-recital series, scheduled for Wednesday, April 23, will feature guest organist Mark Brampton Smith of Madison. Smith will play a program titled "A Variety of Variations," first on the Berghaus pipe organ at the United Methodist Church of Monroe from 12:15-12:45 p.m., then repeating the program later that same day from 5:30-6 p.m. at St. Victor Catholic Church on the Matthew Ronald Buholzer Memorial pipe organ. The program, which features concert variations on the "Star Spangled Banner," will also include his own published piece, "Partita on Azmon." He performed as organist and accompanied Monroe's Bel Canto Singers at their December concert at St. Victor Catholic Church. He and his family reside in Middleton.
