MONROE - Dr. Keith Martin and Monroe Clinic have signed an agreement to join together to provide women's health services in Freeport, Ill. The practice will operate as Monroe Clinic-Highland Women's Care at its present 3103 West Kunkle Blvd. address. An official conversion to Monroe Clinic is expected to take place March 31, 2008.
"We are excited about the possibilities the relationship with Monroe Clinic provides our practice. And while we look forward to good things to come, patients should rest assured that the quality of care and the level of service we provide will not change," Martin said. "In addition to taking care of patients, I will personally continue to be deeply committed to the community through my involvement in many professional, school, church and community organizations."
"We are pleased to welcome a physician with such an outstanding reputation to Monroe Clinic, and look forward to working with Dr. Martin, his staff and his patients," said Mike Sanders, Monroe Clinic president and CEO. "We are thrilled to find such a close fit in both our patient-care philosophy and our commitment to the communities we serve."
The addition of Highland Women's Care brings the number of Monroe Clinic locations to nine and the number of women's health providers to five. Keith Martin, MD, FACOG, (Fellow of American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists), and Sara Smith, APN/CNP (Advanced Practice Nurse/Certified Nurse Practitioner) join Monroe Clinic Women's Health Center providers James Turek, MD, John Bazley, MD and Deborah Setterstrom, CNM (Certified Nurse Midwife). Efforts to recruit a fourth OB/GYN physician for the Freeport area will begin immediately to provide the same level of service in both the Freeport and Monroe markets.
For patients, it will be care as usual with the same providers and staff they have grown familiar with over the years. Those with questions about continuity of care or insurance issues can call Dawn Hill at 815-233-0999.
Martin is a board-certified OB/GYN, practicing in his specialty since 1988. He opened Highland Women's Care in 2002 with the idea of providing personalized care in a professional environment.
Martin is well known for his exceptional patient rapport, and believes strongly that education is a large part of a patient's care. Martin's passion for the field continually leads him to discover advanced technology to help insure the well being of his patients.
In addition to his continuing education, he is active in numerous organizations. He is currently an assistant clinical professor in the department of OB/GYN at the University of Wisconsin-Madison Medical School.
He also serves as Treasurer of the Illinois Section of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists and was recently appointed as a case review expert for the Illinois Department of Professional Regulation. For more information, go to www.highlandwomenscare.com.
