Monroe Fund approves grants to 24 groups

MONROE - The Advisory Board of the Monroe Fund has approved grants to 24 charitable organizations serving the needs of Monroe area residents. The grants were awarded from the Monroe Fund, Reasa Charitable Fund, Dr. Fred W. and Alice J. Kundert Charitable Fund, Jane Lysaght Memorial Fund and Reasa Historic Preservation Fund.

The 2008 Grants Reception was held at the Monroe Arts Center. Refreshments were provided by Swiss Colony, Monroe Clinic and Culligan Water Conditioning. Grants were presented to the following organizations:

The Monroe Fund, Reasa Charitable Fund, Reasa Historic Preservation Fund, Dr. Fred W. and Alice J. Kundert Charitable Fund and the Jane Lysaght Memorial Fund are components of the Community Foundation of Southern Wisconsin, a non-profit public foundation serving seven southern Wisconsin counties. The Monroe Fund and the Community Foundation of Southern Wisconsin assist individuals with their charitable contributions, in order to create enduring endowments for their communities.

The Monroe Fund was formed on August 30, 1996. In the 12 years since, grant awards have exceeded $250,000. A wide array of interests, including the arts, education, recreation, heath care, human services, social services, historic preservation and housing needs, have benefited from these grants which assist Monroe residents in all age groups - from the very young to the young at heart.
