MONROE - There's no need to be bored this summer with the opportunities to learn new things at the Monroe campus of Blackhawk Technical College. Classes scheduled yet this month include:
Microsoft Word/Beginning: This popular software allows users to create, modify, print, save and retrieve word processing documents. Techniques for customizing documents with selection of fonts, moving and formatting text, as well as use of spelling and thesaurus tools are included. The class meets twice a week on Mondays and Wednesdays, from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m., for five sessions, beginning Monday, June 23.
Herbal Vinegars, Butters, and Syrups: Learn methods for using and preserving herbs throughout the year. Herbs can be used to add interest, flavor, and nutrients to vinegars, butters, syrups, and other condiments. Participants will have the opportunity to sample and take recipes home. This one-time workshop is scheduled from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, June 24.
Responsible Beverage Service: Successful completion of this course fulfills state and many local municipal ordinances and is required for all new applicants/bartenders/-operators before receiving a license. This one-time class meets from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m. on Thursday, June 26.
Photoshop Basics: Participants will receive enough experience to do basic projects as this class will introduce the tools and techniques to create stunning photos and designs using the Photoshop program. Bring your photos on disk or CD and you will learn how to produce stunning results. This class is scheduled to meet for four sessions, from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Mondays and Tuesdays starting on June 30.
