Monroe High School class of 1943 held a luncheon Sept. 6 at Turner Hall for their 65th reunion. Twenty-eight were in attendance, including 18 classmates. Theme of the program was "Remember the Day," which was the title of the 1943 senior class play. Mistress of Ceremonies was Ruth Boesiger Cullen.
Each lady in attendance was presented a long-stemmed red rose, the class flower. James Tschudy, London, Tenn., was awarded a special prize for coming the longest distance.
Following the program, the group had a guided tour of the Monroe Middle School, which was formerly the Monroe High School.
Of the 96 graduates, 49 are known to be deceased.
The committee for the event included Mardell Kummer Crotty, Ruth Boesiger Cullen, Erna Rufener Maske, Bertha Jenny Digman, Eleanor Frederick, George Wells and Robert H. Rieder.
A farewell breakfast was held at Turner Hall on Sunday morning.
