MONROE - The Monroe Arts Center and the Monroe Country Club are taking reservations for "Champagne and Candlelight."

The annual party runs from 9:00 PM to 1:00 AM at the country club, 2205 21st Street. Doors will open at 7:30 PM.

Specialty hor d'oeuvres - prepared by Monroe Country Club's Chef Sarah Jarrett - will be served throughout the evening.

The menu includes prime rib with Gorgonzola sauce, potato crepes with smoked trout, three-cheese fondue, pancetta-wrapped scallops, and gourmet pizza. And a chocolate cake with ganache orange sauce is just one of the desserts on the menu.

Coffee, a cash bar, and a complimentary champagne toast at midnight to ring in the new year, round out the celebration.

The Cary Sheley Quartet from Rockford, Ill., will provide live music for both listening and dancing.

Members of the band include Cary Sheley (trombone), Tom Stein (keyboards), Ken Kloweit (bass), and Masahiro Iwasaki (drums). Special guest vocalist, Michelle Maves, will join the band as part of the evening's entertainment.

Formerly from Freeport, Michelle has performed at numerous Chicago area theaters and festivals. She now lives in New York where she is continuing her vocal and acting career.

Tickets for "Champagne and Candlelight" at the Monroe Country Club are $50 per person. The event is open to the public. Reservations must be made in advance by contacting the Monroe Arts Center by phone at 608-325-5700, or in person at 1315 11th Street. Seating is limited and the reservation deadline is Dec. 21.
