NEW GLARUS — Hike or Bike the Sugar River Trail on Sunday, Oct. 29 and enjoy the fall colors. The New Glarus Railroad Depot is open from 10 a.m. to noon. Interested persons can join the Friends of the Badger & Sugar River State Trails group, and DNR, in celebrating the newly constructed kiosk and bike repair station, located just outside the depot on 418 Railroad Street in New Glarus.

The first 50 people to stop by while using the trail will receive a free Friends of the Trails Swag Bag filled with a variety of donated goodies and discount coupons from local businesses. Limit two per family.

The Friends of the Badger and Sugar River State Trails secured a Nelson-Knowles Stewardship grant in early 2023 that helped fund the construction of the new kiosk and repair station. In a press release, the group thanked all the local business who have so generously contributed to the Friends’ and DNR’s efforts.

Those attending UFO Days in Belleville on Oct. 28 can stop by the Friends’ booth at Library Park in Belleville from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The group will be selling 2024 annual passes and memberships.
