Next in-person job fair Oct. 24

JANESVILLE — An in-person manufacturing specific job fair will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 24 from 2-4 p.m. at the Rock County Job Center located at 1717 Center Avenue in Janesville. 

The event currently has 15 local manufacturing employers registered in Rock County and surrounding counties with 175-plus reported job openings.

Individuals will be able to update and print their resumes in the Resource Room at the Rock County Job Center prior to the event.

LCHGS hosts day trip by motor coach

WOODFORD — On Friday, Oct. 20, the Lafayette County Historical and Genealogy Society will host a trip in a comfortable Lamers Coach, to a number of historic sites closely related to local history of the Blackhawk War. 

The coach will pick up riders in Monroe, Darlington, and other stops as needed depending on sign-ups.  

Departure in the morning will bring the riders to Illinois’ Blackhawk State Historic Site, the Hauberg Museum of Native American Life, the Rock Island Arsenal Museum and the Colonel George Davenport House Museum, including a stop for lunch.  

Guests can relax and enjoy visiting historic sites leaving the driving to the professionals. Travel cost is modest and the historic sites are primarily free. Meal cost is not included. Riders can bring snacks and should bring their ID for the Rock Island Arsenal admission.  

This is a great opportunity to enjoy the fall colors, and see historic places in the company of a fun group of history enthusiasts. For more information and to sign up interested persons should contact museum staff at 608-776-8340.

Apple River State Bank places ATM in Stockton

STOCKTON — Apple River State Bank announced Oct. 9 that it has opened a new drive-up ATM at 130 West North Avenue in Stockton. The bank has over 40 ATMs serving Jo Daviess County and southwest Wisconsin.

The bank also added a second mobile ATM available for large community events. The ATM will be located at the bank’s Darlington office but will be available wherever needed. Anyone interested in having a mobile ATM at an upcoming event should contact Nathan Vondra at (815) 777-6300 to check availability.

Annual Lion’s Club Veterans dinner Nov. 4

ALBANY — The annual Lion’s Club Annual Veterans Appreciation Dinner will take place at noon on Nov. 4 at the Albany Lions Building, 402 N. Cincinnati Street. 

The dinner is sponsored by the Albany and Monroe Lion’s Clubs. Active duty personnel, veterans, spouses, widows or widowers of deceased veterans invited.

There will only be one seating this year. There will be no reservations taken. Seating is on a first come, first served basis.

SSM Health at Home offering holiday grief support

MONROE — The holidays are an especially challenging time of year for those grieving the loss of a loved one. Learn how to cope during the holiday season with help from our caring hospice team. Event topics will include common holiday concerns, practical strategies for handling the holidays, and ways to remember a loved one. 

SSM Health at Home will be holding “Handling the Holidays” from 1:30-3:30 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 4 at Monroe Engraving located at 1005 30th Street in Monroe.

This group is open to adults who have experienced the death of someone special. Seating is limited and registration is requested by October 27. 19th Annual Chili and Soup Supper Oct. 18

ORANGEVILLE — The Orangeville American Legion Post 720 will be holding the 19th Annual Chili and Soup Supper on Oct. 18 from 4:30-7:30 p.m. at the Orangeville Village Hall, 301 South East Street.  

Chili, ham and bean, and vegetable soups will all be available, as well as ham or turkey sandwiches, applesauce, cheese, crackers, dessert and beverages. 

Tickets can be purchased in advance from any Orangeville Legion/Auxiliary member or at the door that night. This annual event raises funds for scholarships, Boys and Girls State delegates, and various veterans programs.
