MONROE — Monroe Arts Center invites the public to enter their 33rd Annual Photography Contest.
All photos must have been taken after Sept. 1, 2021, and all entries are due on Friday, Aug. 26. Photographs entered will be on display at the Monroe Arts Center from Sept. 9 through Nov. 5.
This contest is open to photographers of all ages. Photographers who derive at least one-tenth of their income from the sale and/or teaching of photography are not eligible for this contest.
The judge for this year’s Photography Contest is Brian Wolfe, noted Hudson Valley photographer. Born and raised in Newburgh, CT, Wolfe became fascinated with photography as a young child. After graduating from the University of Notre Dame and the University of Connecticut, Wolfe successfully made his mark in the theater and film industry. The photographer spent over 30 years working at one of New York’s finest sculpture, custom prop and thermoforming shops. Wolfe returned to photography later in life and has not left since. Refusing to pick a genre of photography, Wolfe continues to challenge himself to capture anything that grabs his interest and tells a candid story.
Monroe Arts Center will hold an opening reception on Friday, Sept. 9, from 5-7 p.m. to celebrate the exhibit. During this event, there will also be a presentation of the awards where winners will receive their cash prizes. For more information, visit monroearts
