MONROE - The Monroe Parks and Recreation Department has a few openings left in the upcoming one-day Lego classes.
There are five openings left in Bricks 4 Kidz Space Adventure Camp-Star Wars, which is for children entering first grade through fifth grade. That class meets from 1 to 4 p.m. Aug. 12 in the Community Center. Inspired by NASA and Star Wars, the class will teach campers about real-life space exploration. Campers will also build models related to the NASA space program. The day includes Lego Star Wars-themed models, video games, group games, challenges and more.
There are four openings left in Minecraft, which is for children entering first grade through fifth grade. The class meets from 1 to 4 p.m. Aug. 18 in the Community Center. Minecraft is a game about placing Lego blocks to build anything imaginable. Kids will start by crafting shelters and some of the mobs, critters and tools. Students will face new challenges by building models and crafting key elements from the popular Minecraft game.
The fee for both classes is $35 for residents and $45 for non-residents.
Registration for these programs may be done online or at the Monroe Parks and Recreation office between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Contact the office with additional questions at 608-329-2460.
