JUDA — The choir of the Juda Zion Community Church will present the dramatic musical “The Voice” at 1:30 p.m. on Palm Sunday, March 24, and on Good Friday, March 29, at 1:30 p.m. Both performances are at the Juda Zion Community Church, located at N2350 Church Street, Juda. Directed by Shelly Jordan, the beginning of the musical finds John the Baptist (played by Gene Dobbins), declaring that he is the voice crying in the wilderness “Prepare ye the way of the Lord”.
The play continues by tracing the stories of two of the most pivotal figures in the hours following Jesus’ death, Joseph of Arimathea (played by Mark Woodward), who provided the tomb, and Nicodemus (played by Rudy Kaderly), the man who helped carry Jesus’ body. Together they took Christ’s body from the cross, prepared it for burial, and placed it in the tomb. In this simple act they told the world that they too were followers of Christ.
Other members of the cast are Joyce Hoesly, Julie Davis, JoAnn Dobbins, Heidi Bolton, Peggy Jordan, Sara Jordan, Carrie Schwartz, Jean Busker, Judy Kaderly, Sharon Creuzer, Kim Schields, Kay Carter, JoAnn Eberle, Pat Daniels, Bob Severson, Steve Anderson, Jake Hoesly, Irv Case, Mark Mason, Joe Kaderly, Eric Woodward, and Blake Adkins. The tech crew consists of Brian Matzke (lights), Peggy Matzke ( publicity, set, costumes), Hazel Matzke (publicity), Bill Jahn and Kalvin Kaderly (sound and videography), Bethany Woodward (prompter), John Severson and Bob and Mary Severson (set crew), and Judy Kaderly (production secretary).
A time of fellowship and refreshments will follow the program in the church fellowship hall. The public is welcome. There is no admission charge but a free-will offering will be accepted.
