MONROE - The Jimmys take the stage for Main Street Monroe's Concert on the Square at 6:30 p.m. Friday.
The performance by The Jimmys marks the second of eight shows, all sponsored by Colony Brands. Led by Monticello native Jimmy Voegeli on keyboards and vocals.
Concerts on the Square offer a casual, family-friendly evening. Lawn chairs can be set up after the street closes at about 3 p.m. Those who attend can register to win the "Best Seat in the House" contest with premium, comfortable seating courtesy of Genthe's, plus a dining, beverage and swag package. To register, visit Heartland Graphics. Sign up all summer; winners drawn prior to each show.
Bean and Barrel, Buggy Works, Pancho and Lefty's, Rainbow Confection and Suisse Haus will have food items available. Special Olympics Popcorn Stand will provide popcorn courtesy of Bartel's Tap, and sno-cones will be available at the Main Street Booth. Girl Scout Troop 3459 will also be selling Girl Scout cookies.
Volunteers from the Green County Humane Society will be staffing a beer stand. New this year is the Minhas Mini Bar with local brews from the Minhas Craft Brewery. The concert will also feature wine from Hawk's Mill Winery, near Browntown.
There will be special intermission entertainment, courtesy of the John and Katie Baumann Inspire Project - celebrating the works of community volunteers and philanthropists for their leadership and activism.
In case of rain, the entire event moves to the Stateline Ice Arena, 1632 4th Ave. West. For more information, visit the website mainstreetmonroe.org.
Upcoming concert events are Denny Diamond and the Family Jewels on June 4, Rockabilly Junction on June 19, Shattered on July 10, The Basin Street Boys on July 30, Wheel House on Aug. 14, and The Mascot Theory on Aug. 27.
A significant portion of the Main Street budget is derived from sponsors. To make a tax-deductible donation to support the Main Street Monroe program, contact Jordan Nordby, Main Street Monroe director, at 608-328-4023 or monroemainstreet@tds.net.
