MONROE - The royalty has been announced for St. Patrick's Day activities. Queen of the Green is Rena Welty, Celtic Princess is Taylor McLean and Grand Marshal is Bret Miller.
St. Patrick's Day activities start March 11 with the Green County Family YMCA's "Run before you Crawl." The kids race starts at 8:30 a.m., and the adult 5K run/walk begins at 9 a.m.
March 11 also holds many options for entertainment, including the 10th annual Flanagan's Shenanigans Celtic Pub Crawl. Michael Ganshert and Dr. Dan Stormont will kick off the crawl at 1 p.m. by playing the bag pipes. The first 1,000 participants at check-in will receive a free gift and the first 300 to donate to the food or pet pantry will receive a gift. More information is available at celticcrawl.com.
Live entertainment by Emily Pasker performing traditional Irish dance is at noon at Friendly Inn and again at 1:45 and 5 p.m. at Suisse Haus. Piano Fondue will tickle the ivories with dueling pianos at Suisse Haus from 2 to 6 p.m.
Monroe Lions Club members, participating Celtic Crawl pubs and Heartland Graphics will be selling raffle tickets for a chance to win cash, sponsored by Monroe Lions Club. Green County EMS and the Tavern League will offer Safe Ride.
