MONROE - Susan Myoyu Andersen, Roshi, will present an introductory class on Zen meditation from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday, April 12 at Great Plains Zen Center, W7762 Falk Road.
A suggested donation is $25 or $15 for seniors, students or special circumstances. Pre-registration is requested.
Participants will receive instruction in how to do Zen meditation and will learn about the types and goals of Zen practice, the benefits and how to keep practice at home going successfully. Newcomers and those with experience are both welcome. Zen meditation can be practiced by people of any religious tradition and can help with reducing everyday stress, promoting clarity of mind, concentration and compassion toward all beings. There are numerous scientific studies verifying the physiological, cognitive and psychological benefits of meditation and related practices of gratitude, kindness, tolerance and forgiveness.
