Group collecting shoes for tour to prevent gun violence

MONROE - A collection of shoes is being raised for Hearts and Soles, a five-city tour to prevent gun violence.

The event remembers the 467 men, women and children who are killed by guns in Wisconsin. The exhibit travels around the state to display 467 pairs of empty shoes. At each stop, the group addresses leaders regarding gun violence crisis. The tour dates are Sept. 22 through 25 in Madison, Eau Claire, Wausau, Appleton and Milwaukee.

The shoe drop-off site is 2107 8th St. in Monroe. Shoes are needed by Tuesday, Aug. 26. For more information on the local donation fundraiser, contact Derek Hoesly at 608-214-6320.
