MONROE - The Green County Family YMCA Inc. has received a grant from the Clifford and Dorothy Reasa Charitable Fund of the Monroe Fund, a component of the Community Foundation of Southern Wisconsin Inc. to support the YMCA Discovery Center Playground Project.
This project will allow the YMCA to provide a larger safe play space for all children of various physical abilities to play together, according to a news release. It is the YMCA's goal to help kids become physically stronger, have more endurance and experience a sense of joy and fun through activity, according to the release. The Y hopes to help build confidence, strength and healthy lifestyles, boosting development, strengthening communities and encouraging the inclusion of physical activity in all youth programs. Good health is an important asset for all youth. Children who have fun with physical activity get in the habit of exercise at an early age and maintain a healthy weight, develop strong muscles and bones, sharpen motor skills and improve self-esteem.
The Clifford and Dorothy Reasa Charitable Fund is a resource for area nonprofit organizations whose programs and services are working for the betterment of our communities. Grants from the Fund have supported the arts, education, environment, health and human services and historic preservation.
