BROWNTOWN - Friends Of Cadiz Springs State Recreation Area is hosting a "Fling Into Summer" celebration from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday, June 5, at Cadiz Springs State Recreation Area, N2241 Cadiz Springs Road, Browntown.
The first weekend in June is open house at Wisconsin State Parks, so no admission sticker will be needed - and there also will be no charge for the family-friendly games, prizes or activities.
There will be a beach-ball toss, sifting for treasure, temporary tattoos, a duck pond dip; and fish match game - as well as prizes for the children.
Visitors of all ages are invited to try fly casting or to take a guided nature walk. A fishing contest for kids ages 12 and under will is set for 1 to 2:30 p.m. Kids must be accompanied by an adult in order to participate.
The park also has hiking trails, two lakes, a sandy beach, a volleyball court and picnic areas for family recreation. Brats and hot dogs, as well as chips, cookies and cold soft drinks will be sold. Proceeds from food sales will be used to help purchase new playground equipment for the park.
