MONROE — While talking to Green County Fall Nationals Founder Mark Hawthorn about what the nonprofit’s next major annual donation should be, Monticello Police Chief Szvon Conway mentioned that many of the defibrillators used by schools and police departments were out of date.

Hawthorn took that conversation to heart, and the group’s most recent donation came by way of the machines used to treat life threatening cardiac dysrhythmias.

Members of the Green County Fall Nationals came together to donate an updated defibrillator to school districts including New Glarus, Juda and Belleville. Police departments including Belleville, Monticello and Brooklyn also received an updated device.

“This is priceless,” Conway said. “You can’t put a price on a human life.”

Hawthorn presented the defibrillators to the recipients at the Monticello Veteran’s Memorial July 17.

“When it comes time to give the donation, we forget about all the work and stress it takes to pull it off,” Hawthorn said.

The 13th Annual Green County Fall Nationals pull is planned for noon, Sept. 21 at the Green County Fairgrounds. The Lions Club, Colony Brands and Stone Mill Construction are sponsors for the event. Hawthorn said they plan to distribute more defibrillators after the entertaining evening.
