MONROE - Celebrating Earth Day with an eye on the Creator as well as creation is the focus of "Faithfully Green: Faith and Environmental Stewardship." Hosted by Monroe United Methodist Church, the symposium will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, April 25 and feature a variety of workshops including:
n "Energy Conservation Programs for the Home" by Focus on Energy
n "Renewable Energy- Wind, Solar, and Solar Voltaic" by Conserve Wisconsin
n "Edible Aquifers" by UW Extension
n "Sustainable Gardening" by Prairie Herbs' Terry Hollembaek
n "Sustainable Business Practices" by Art Bartsch
n "Local Regulations and Resources"
A luncheon of locally produced foods and a panel discussion will close the family-friendly event, and children's activities and free child care will be provided. Admission is $7.50 for adults and free for children ages 12 and under. Advance registration is preferred by calling 325-6700.
Building "green" is more than a choice of décor for hotelier Art Bartsch, who, with his wife Barb and business partners Richard and Jane Thoman, has been garnering national recognition for the environmentally friendly design and maintenance of their Super 8 Motel.
