MONROE - The Monroe Public Library will be displaying "Working Warriors: Military Life beyond Combat" during regular library hours through Oct. 26.

Visitors are encouraged to guide themselves through the exhibit, which is on the first floor.

In addition, the library will host a reception and social for the exhibit at 1 p.m. Oct. 22. Veterans are invited to share stories and memories, and all are welcome to come by for refreshments and social time.

The tradition of military service in Green County is exemplified by Gen. Nathan F. Twining, for whom Twining Park is named. Yet those who are remembered by name do not tell the whole story. Many soldiers have honorably served the nation and brought pride to Monroe - those currently in service and veterans alike.

Though many troops who serve in wartime are at the front lines, many more are behind the scenes in support positions. These non-combat positions are vital to the success of the military. This traveling exhibit from the Wisconsin Veterans Museum sheds light on the work of these soldiers.
