Are you tired of cold temperatures and digging out of snow banks? It's time to start thinking about warmer days and the activities associated with better weather.
Do you realize that the Green County Fair is fast approaching? Mark your calendars now for July 20-24. Details for the 2011 fair are coming together and with that, the announcement of the grandstand entertainment.
Kicking off the 2011 fair will be the family-oriented Three Hills Rodeo, at 7 p.m. Wednesday, July 20 with a free grandstand.
Again on Thursday evening, July 21, the Badger State Tractor Pull will be featured, at 6 p.m.; grandstand (all seats reserved), bleacher seats (general seating) and standing room - $5 .
Friday evening, July 22, we will again welcome country artist Maggie May for one free grandstand show at 7:30 p.m.
On Saturday afternoon, July 23, at 4 p.m., the Horse Pull will be featured. (Please note this is a change of day from past years). Saturday evening at 7:30 p.m. will feature country music star John Michael Montgomery. Tickets for this concert include chair seating on the track: $12, for general seating, chairs provided, and grandstand seating, $10, all seats reserved.
Sunday, July 24, will start with Harness Racing at 10:30 a.m., followed by the two big demolition derbies at 4 and 7:30 p.m.
To make things as convenient and easy as possible, we will be offering online ticket sales again this year. Purchasing online allows you the comfort of shopping at home - 24/7 and the choice of picking your own seats early before all the good seats are gone.
Tickets for the tractor pull, John Michael Montgomery, and demolition derbies will go on sale on April 14 at 5 p.m., at www.greencountyfair.net All tickets purchased on line include a surcharge for the service of buying online and a fee for the use of a credit card. The fair box office will open on Saturday, May 14 (one day only), 9 a.m. to noon, for advance ticket sales - cash sales only. Tickets for all three events will also be on sale at the fairgrounds during fair week.
Tickets purchased online will be available for pick up at the fairgrounds box office "Will Call" starting on July 18, during regular box office hours.
New this year, will be the "Biggest Weed" and Tallest Corn contests. Start early, nurturing your entries and be prepared to bring them to the fair from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday, July 24 for judging.
Also coming up this year will be "Veggie Races." For all three new events, check out our website at www.greencountyfair.net for contest rules.
Also, newly established this year, is the "Friend of the Fair." To get your name listed on the honor board as a supporter of the Green County Fair, a donation of $50, $100, $150 or $200 can be sent to the Green County Fair, P.O. Box 713, Monroe, WI 53566. Check our website for more details.
As always, there will be all the traditional fair foods, carnival, judging and lots of things to keep you entertained.
