DARLINGTON — The Darlington High School Theatre Department will be putting on The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee at the end of March.
Tickets are now on sale for the DHS Theatre Department’s production of the Tony-Award-winning musical The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, which will be performed March 25-26 at 7 p.m., and March 27 at 2 p.m. in the Leona Havens Theatre.
Putnam County tells the story of six children vying for the spelling championship of a lifetime. While candidly disclosing hilarious and touching stories from their home lives, the tweens spell their way through a series of (potentially made-up) words, hoping never to hear the soul-crushing, pout-inducing, life un-affirming “ding” of the bell that signals a spelling mistake. Six spellers enter; one speller leaves. At least the losers get a juice box.
Advance tickets are $8 and can be purchased in the DHS office (776-4001). The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee is recommended for ages 13 and above.
