MONROE - The Monroe-Washington Township Cemetery Publication has recently been published by The Green County Genealogical Society. The publication contains the Benkert-Bushnell Cemetery, which is located about five miles northwest of Monroe on County N, and the Iliff Cemetery, which is about three and a half miles northwest on Wisconsin 81, both in Monroe Township.
Washington Township cemeteries include burials on the old Thomas Saunders farm which was located about one mile north on County C coming from Monticello. Union-Benkert is located on Wisconsin 81 from Monroe and going to Loveland Road. The largest cemetery in Washington Township is at the intersection of Church Road and Highpoint, taking County N out of Monroe and following to Highpoint and going left to Church Road. It sits next to the Washington Reformed Church.
Each publication lists the name of the deceased, the location, dates of death and birth if available and sometime other pertinent information.
