MONROE — The Behring Senior Center has numerous activities and classes planned. Arrangements to participate can be made by calling the senior center at 325-3173 or stop at the center reception desk. Participants must pre-register for all programs, including free ones, so staff will know how many will be attending. All classes and activities are for people 55 and older.


Classes

● A computer class, IPad Basic Plus, will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. Feb. 21. Learn more about your IPad. Other tablets will not be covered. There is a cost for this class and a limit of ten people.

●  A seascape art class will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. Feb. 28. Come learn watercolor techniques and create two projects. All supplies included and no experience necessary. There is a cost for this class.

● A quilting class will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. March 5, 12, 19, and 26. Learn how to make half square triangles and how to put them together. Must know how to use quilting tools. The instructor is Tereesa Schroeder. There is a cost for this class and a limit of 15 people.

●  Audacious Faith, an abstract acrylic painting class will be at 1:30 p.m. March 19. Learn to do beautiful acrylic paintings. Please dress to paint. There is a cost for this class and all supplies are included.

●  A Pinterest class will be at 1 p.m. March 21. Learn how to make fun coasters using tiles, cork and alcohol inks. Each person will make a set of four coasters. There is a cost for this class.

●   A computer class, Selling on eBay, will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. April 9. Learn how to set up an account and all the details. There is a cost for this class and a limit of only eight people.


Events

●  A financial series presented by Edward Jones will be held at 11:30 a.m. Jan. 29, Feb. 12 and March 12. First topic is “Fraud” and second will be “Market Outlooks” and the third is “Prepare, don’t predict”. Lunch will be provided to participants.

●   Breakfast for all Veterans and spouses ages 55 and over will be held from 8 to 9:30 a.m. on Feb. 6. We ask that you not come before 8 a.m. Next breakfast will be March 6.

●  A Patsy Cline Tribute will be at 1:30 p.m. Feb. 19.  Performance by Karen Wickham. There is a limit of 85 people.

●  Join us for a series of great programs presented by Jim Glessner. Each program will start at 1:30 p.m. and feature its own special Non-Alcohol drink. Feb. 20 will be Flowers and Pretty Things. The Glessners and the Chicago Glessner House will be March 20, and George Washington and Fort Necessity will be May 22.

● The February Movie, Bonobos: Back to the Wild, will be at 1:30 p.m. Feb 26. Refreshments will be available. The movie is 1 hour and 24 minutes.

●  Craig Siemsen, “Over the Rainbow” will be at 1:30 p.m. April 30. Craig will perform popular songs from the 1930s through the 1960s. Limit of 85 people.
