ALBANY - Francis Beers, New Glarus, will speak to the Albany Historical Society about the Cold War years at its next membership meeting, 7 p.m. Tuesday, May 18, at the Museum, 119 N. Water St., Albany.
Beers will divide his talk into three parts, covering how we got to the Atomic Age, what it was like in the trenches for the troops who were in Europe at that time and what it was like for the civilians here at home. Beers is an active member of the AmVets.
Visitors are welcome and refreshments will be served; Hans and Dorothy Schlapbach will be the hosts. A short business meeting will precede the program.
For the June 15 meeting, all attending are encouraged to bring a "show and tell" item from their home. More information about the Albany Historical Society is available by contacting Ruth Beckman, president, at 862-3423 or Peggy Wetter, program chairman, at 862-1120.
