Bank awards scholarship to area students

GALENA — Apple River State Bank and First Community Bank of Galena recently awarded $1,000 college scholarships to six area high school graduates. 

●  Galena High School: Chloe Roland is the daughter of Brent Roland, Jr., and Lisa Roland. She will attend Liberty University and major in Exercise Science.

●  River Ridge High School: Heaven Brotherton is the daughter of Duane and Heather Brotherton. Heaven will attend Northeast Iowa Community College and major in nursing.

●  Scales Mound High School: Sydney Driscoll is the daughter of Mark and Shannon Driscoll. She plans to attend University of Missouri and major in architectural studies and interior design.

●  Warren High School: Ava Heidenreich is the daughter of Kurtis and Valerie Heidenreich. Ava will attend either University of Illinois or Illinois State University and major in psychology.

●  Southwestern High School: Macie McAuliffe is the daughter of Eric and Hillary McAuliffe. She plans to attend University of Wisconsin — Platteville and major in biology with plans to becomes a physician’s assistant.

●  Darlington High School: Octavia Meylor is the daughter of Kyle and Felicia Meylor. Octavia will attend Southwest Technical College and major in Physical Therapy. 

In addition to these six scholarships, the bank’s Trust Department has awarded a $1,000 scholarship from the Earl, Vera, and Hal Heller Educational Trust. The recipient is Kaleb Muehleip, son of Damon and Jill Muehleip. Kaleb plans to attend Minnesota West to become a lineman.  

Apple River State Bank is located throughout Jo Daviess County in Apple River, Elizabeth, Hanover, Scales Mound, Warren, Galena (First Community Bank of Galena), and in Darlington and Hazel Green, Wisconsin.
