You are welcome to pick-up your copy of “THE RED BRICK AGENDA” at the Behring Senior Center to get more information. They are found inside the Front Lobby door in a basket or in the Wellness Center just inside the door.


Veteran’s Dinner in the Park for all veterans who are 55 years of age and older.  Wednesday, August 9, Twining Park at the Klinzing Shelter, serving food from 5:00pm- to 6:30pm. Quilts of Valor Presentation starts at 6:00pm. We will be serving pulled pork, potato salad, fruit salad, and cake.  Spouses and families are welcome. You must be registered by Friday, August 4. Suggested donation of $3.00 per person or $5.00 per couple. Please call (608) 325-3173 so we know how much food to prepare. Reservations are required. Thank you.


Exercise Classes

Please bring a change of shoes to wear in the gym. Classes are as follows:

1. Fitness First is on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 8:30 to 9:15 a.m.

2. Men’s Exercise is on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 9:30 to 10:15 a.m.

3. Chair Pilates is on Mondays from 10:45 to 11:30 a.m. and Wednesdays 11:45 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

4. Balance Yoga is on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9:30 to 10:15 a.m.

5. Dance Aerobics will be on Tuesdays and Thursdays. First class is from 8:30 to 9:15 a.m. and the second class is from 10:45 to 11:30 a.m. Please note there are two classes.

6. Yoga is on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 11:45 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. 

7. Fusion is on Wednesdays and Fridays from 10:45 to 11:30 a.m.

The Behring Senior Center offers Drop-ins and Punch Cards for all exercise classes.


Water Aerobics

Now through August 25; Monroe City Pool; 12:00-12:45 p.m.; Monday, Wednesday, Friday.

Join Bridget for this fun and energizing class. $4.00 per class or free with a season pass to the Monroe Pool, also may use a Senior Center punch card. 


Chair Massage

Date: Friday, August 4; Cost: $30.00; Times: 9:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. (20 minutes).

Melissa Kieler is a Massage Therapist at Healing Notes here in Monroe. You will pay Melissa directly the day of your appointment.


Foot Care with Julie

Dates: Tuesdays, August 8, 22, 29; Cost: $42.00 and you will pay Julie directly.; Times: 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Appointments are around 30 minutes. You will pay Julie at the time of your appointment.


Senior Center Library is open on the 2nd floor, 8am-4pm Monday-Friday.  


Table Tennis (ping pong) will be on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 1:00pm.  


Pool (Billiards) The pool hall is open from 9am to 4pm Monday-Friday.


Cards

Card games are at the Senior Center from 12:30 to 3:30 p.m.  We are playing for fun and there are no prizes. Mondays are Euchre, Tuesdays are Canasta and Horse & Pepper, Thursdays are for 500 and Yass.


Bingo with Aster and Flippo at the Senior Center. You must sign up because there is a limit of only 35 people. Bingo is Friday, Aug. 18 at 1:30 p.m. Aster will be giving away great prizes. Be sure to sign up for this event, remember space is limited, call (608) 325-3173 soon. Flippo is Friday, Aug. 11 at 1:30 p.m.  You have to bring your own deck of cards. Please sign up for this event.


Movies for August

Movie: Tuesday, Aug 8 at 1:30 p.m. Showing is “Mr. Church,” Rated PG-13, Run time: 1 hour, 44 min.

Movie: Thursday, Aug. 17 at 1:30 p.m. Showing is “Maverick,” Rated PG, Run time: 2 hours, 7 min. 

Movie: Tuesday, Aug. 29 at 1:30 p.m. Showing is “Mrs. Harris Goes to Paris,” Rated PG, Run time: 1 hour, 55 min.

Quilts of Valor

A Quilt of Valor is awarded to a Service Member or Veteran who has been touched by war. Honor, Freedom, and Comfort are stitched into every quilt to honor his/her service and sacrifice. Please stop by the Senior Center front desk to pick up a request form. Call (608) 325-3173 with any questions.

Magic Show in the Park

Wednesday, Aug. 16; Twining Park-Klinzing Shelter

1:30 p.m.; Cost: $5.00, Children 12 and under are free.

Bring your own lawn chairs or sit at the picnic tables.

Get ready to be amazed with this high-end Magic Show. James the magician will dazzle the audience with tricks up his sleeve. This wonderful entertaining event is open for all ages. So, grab your children, grandchildren, etc. and join in on the fun. Children and adults under 55 must be accompanied by a senior. In the event of rain, the show will be held at the Senior Center. You must register for this event by calling 608-325-3173 or sign up at the Senior Center’s front desk.


Walking Wednesdays

Join the walking group on Wednesdays. They will meet at Twining Park on Wednesdays at 9:30 a.m. No need to sign up, just meet in the Twining Park Lot by the shelter houses.

Every Thursday at 10:00 a.m.

Back by popular demand, Patrick McCarty will guide you through a genuine conversation with topics and questions.


Healthy Eating: Out to Lunch with Lucy

Monday, Aug. 14; 10:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Lucy will be taking a group to the Great Dane in Fitchburg. Also included on this trip is a tour of the Cave of the Mounds. 

Walking through the gardens and museum is free. 

Cost: Bus - $20.00 check or cash, exact change; Cave of the Mounds tour -  $22.00; Lunch -  $12.00 and up. 


Cooking for Health with Lucy

Wednesday, Aug. 16, 11:30 a.m.; Cost: $15.00

You must sign up in advance for this class.

Our third cooking class will be “Exploring Vegetarian Eating.”


Bone Density Program

Join Personal Trainer Shannan Kaiser for an eye-opening educational discussion to learn how to exercise and strengthen bones.


Power of Attorney Presentation

Schluesche Fields S.C. will be here to present Estate Planning, Power of Attorney, and Medicaid Asset Protection Trusts.


Batik Dish Towels

Aug. 9 and Aug. 23, 1 to 3 p.m.; $30.00

Lauren Burkey from the Monroe Arts Center is here for a two-session workshop. She will explore a modified method of batik and help you decorate two dish towels. 


KG & The Ranger

Friday, Aug. 25, 6 to 7:30 p.m.; Twining Park Bandshell

This husband and wife duo perform classic and contemporary cowboy songs, yodeling, and trick rope spinning. This is a family night and registration is not required. Come join the fun.

All About Monroe Annual Golf Outing

Wednesday, Aug. 30; Time: 9:00 a.m., Shot Gun Start; Where: The Monroe Golf Club, 2205 21st St.

Cost: $50.00, includes 9 holes with cart, hole prizes, lunch which will be Hamburgers, Brats, Baked Beans, Potato Salad with Garnish and Cheese Tray. Payments are made directly to the Senior Center and are due by Friday, Aug. 18. Wear Red or any Proud Monroe Apparel and your name will be entered into a special drawing.


Medicare Professionals 

We have local Medicare professionals coming to the Center to help answer your questions. No appointment is necessary, just stop by.
