MONROE - Open auditions for a youth production of "A Midsummer Night's Dream" will be held in January.
Youth ages 7 through 19 can join Shakespeare on the Edge Inc. as they present Shakespeare! For Kids By Kids! at the Monroe Arts Center.
Shakespeare! For Kids By Kids! - created just for kids by kids - is offering a free youth opportunity to learn and perform an adapted, modernized version of William Shakespeare's "A Midsummer Night's Dream."
The opportunity is brought to youth at no cost to participants. Children younger than 7 years can audition with permission of the director. Youth and teens can audition for small, medium and large roles, as well as no-speaking roles. Everyone who auditions will be cast.
Open auditions will be held from 4:30 to 6 p.m. Monday and Tuesday in the Gunderson Stiles Concert Hall at the Monroe Arts Center, 1315 11th St. Rehearsals run Jan. 16 through Feb. 3. Two free performances will be held at 7 p.m. Feb. 6 and 2 p.m. Feb. 7.
